When a typhoon strikes Hong Kong, odds are the entire city will shut down. This was exactly what happened on August 6th. Hurling gales in the early hours of the morning signalled the beginning and also the peak of the turmoil, yet we would find ourselves under house arrest until the storm had waned completely and it was deemed safe enough to venture outside once again.

As it transpired, that ‘somewhere’ was the deserted town of Strangford, where we grabbed some seats outside an old pub and casually chatted over a drink. The weather, meanwhile, was in a less relaxed mood.
