The Buenos Aires harbour skyline faded into a haze as dawn neared and we began leaving Argentine waters by the South American equivalent of the Seacat, or “Buquebus”. We arrived in Montevideo port 3 hours later and disembarked into a small dark terminal where passports were stamped and I could officially say I had arrived in my 32nd country.
