Amsterdam and back in a day? It’s possible, and more rewarding than you might think, especially when coupled with a certain milestone birthday (not mine). A 6 a.m. departure takes us over Northern England and the North Sea into Schiphol. I was last here as a 4-year-old, at the end of a round the world trip.
Flying the now defunct Canadian Airlines from Honolulu to Amsterdam, via Vancouver and Edmonton, our trip home was indeed a long one – the longest travel day i’ve ever experienced in fact – whether conscious of it or not. We did eventually make it to the Dutch Capital however, and, having some time to spare, even got to journey into it’s core for a short walkabout.
