Helsinki retains a very cultured vibe – something a little alternative and upmarket, yet friendly at the same time. It’s also a bit confusing. You know you’ve definitely left Sweden and Scandinavia, yet you’re not entirely into the Russian frontier. It therefore has a quasi hybrid feel to it – a convergence which paves the way for an intriguing array of idiosyncratic oddities and quirks.
