Then known as Yugoslavia, I visited here for a second time in 1987, spending two weeks relaxing along the attractive Adriatic Coast, and developing a lifelong love for Pizza in the process. One particular hazy image sticks with me from this trip – that of walking high up into the overgrown hills with my Dad, and looking down at the sparkling blue sea beneath.
This was my first visit to the former Yugoslavia – what is now Croatia. At the time there were relatively cheap package deals going direct from Belfast to the Adriatic Coastal resort of Pula, and so my parents presumably thought, “why not?“. Two weeks of sun, sand, sea and pizza followed..
